Wednesday, August 24/Cafe Istanbul (2372 St. Claude Ave): For your ears and eyes to be stimulated with beauty, you want to head over to Cafe Istanbul on Wednesday for their “Music in Movies” film series. This series presents films that reflect music in all the ways music lovers seek to hear music when they go to the movies. Thursday, August 25/Ogden Museum (925 Camp Street): This month in New Orleans is free museum month, and one of the museums that remains free throughout the year for Louisiana residents is the Ogden Museum. Currently on display is the exhibit "Top Mob: A History of New Orleans Grafitti" as well as other Louisiana and worldly-focused exhibits. You can check out their calendar of events here, and remember that Thursdays are free for Louisiana residents.
Friday, August 26/ Higher Power Nola (514 City Park): Bike rides are all around town, and this bike ride joins Higher Power NOLA, Young Leadership Council (YLC), and wine. They roll from Mid-City, down to St. Roch Market in the Bywater, then back to Mid City heading to a few great local venues for a few glasses of wine and a whole lot of fun. They stress bike safety, so make sure you have a helmet and lights so you can ride through the streets as safely as possible. The ride will meet at 5:48 P.M. and go until 9:00 P.M. Saturday, August 27/The Howlin Wolf (907 S. Peters): It may not be a throwback Thursday, but The Howlin Wolf is celebrating OutKast and ATLiens 20th Anniversary with E.F. Cuttin + DJ Slum Flower on the wheelz of steel. This is a tribute show, so there will be lots of hits spinning and playing throughout the night.
