We've got your weekend: Love connections

Thursday, May 19/Twelve Mile Limit (500 S. Telemachus): There are lots of lovers in New Orleans, but fate doesn't always bring them together. That is where Twelve Mile Limit and The Hump Connection step in. On Thursday starting at 9:00 PM, the hosts--Artie and Vanna--will be connecting hearts and parts together at this live dating show. There is no cover for the event. And to put your palpitations as ease, you don't have to be a contestant if you attend, but after awhile you may find that you want to be.

Friday, May 20/International House Hotel (221 Camp St.):  In honor of Cuban Independence Day, the International House Hotel is throwing a party, and not just any kind of party. There will be fried sweet plantains, mojo-braised pork shoulder, and vinaigrette marinated fried shark bites (among many other samplings). And what better way to wash down that food than with signature cocktails? And dancing, specifically some sizzling dancing to Muevele, who will headline the night’s talent featuring the music of Celia Cruz. The party runs from 7:00 PM until 11:00 PM. Tickets are $35 for drinks, music and dancing and $50 for drinks, music, dancing and a seated dinner. Did we also mention there will be cigars? Because there will be cigars.

Saturday, May 21/Coliseum Square Park: As you wish. No, as you wiiiiiish. Most of us grew up screaming that line from The Princess Bride at one time or another, and now you can scream it again--with your fellow Princess Bride lovers. The free screening of The Princess Bride begins at sunset, so you can bring your family, your dogs, your food (there will be food and beverages for sale as well), and you good attitude. I will stop rhyming, I mean it. Anybody want a peanut? Okay, no more movie quotes, you can get them in authentic action on Saturday.

Sunday, May 22/Mojo Coffee House (1500 Magazine St.): Mojo Coffee House is double digits. They have reached a decade, so they are throwing a sidewalk party to celebrate. Does this mean all coffee flavored snacks, treats, and delights? No. Thank goodness. There will, however, be wacky chinese take-out inspired cuisine by the Electric Eggroll food truck, a specialty Mojo-infused Iced Coffee Porter made by local brewer Gnarly Barley Brewing and more! Who knows what the more could entail, and we know there is only one way to find out. The party runs from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
