We've Got Your Weekend: It's All Pre and Post Parades

Thursday, February 4-7/ Black Label Icehouse presents, BLOCKUS:  Blockus consists of three hazy evenings showcasing the brightest up-and-coming independent artists from New Orleans and beyond. 13 bands, 3 nights, 2 locations, bathroom access, great booze and brews, delicious barbecue, and lots of friendly familiar faces. After the parades end, mosey a couple blocks up to Dryades or Baronne (depending on the night) and catch your favorite bands! The event is always free and the door open at 8: 00 PM. For a full line-up, you can check out their event page here.

Friday, February 5/Crescent Park presents, Lantern Parade: Minor Mishap Marching Band will be sparkling under the beauty of New Orleans, and you are also invited to dazzle under the dark sky with a parade of light.  The band and all public joiners will gather at the River to celebrate light, darkness, music, community, nature and other things of general awesomeness. You are the main source of beauty and creativity for this event. They're asking for all who want to join to make lanterns and carry their own light with them in the parade. The event is free, open to the public, and to locate the meeting spot, check out their information here.

Friday, February 5/Carver Theater presents, Krewe de Lune's 8th Annual Space Ball: There's nothing better than heading to a ball after a night of bead grabbing, cooler carrying, and public camaraderie, and Krewe de Lune opens their ball up to the public. This year's Krewe de Lune Space Ball is themed "Cirque de so Lune," so head over to The Historic Carver Theater (2101 Orleans Ave) in your greatest space circus gear (costumes are mandatory). This year's Space Ball will have live circus performances, live music (including Meschiya Lake and the Little Big Horns and King James & The Special Men), large-scale art installations, bodypainting from Get FLY Bodypainting, a bonfire, dancing and an OPEN BAR, plusFrencheeze Food Truck and Electric Eggroll food trucks! Tickets are $30 pre-sale and $35 at the door. You can get more information and purchase tickets here.

Saturday, February 6/Finn McCool's Irish Pub: It's Karaoke night in honor of Endymion, and we are highlight Finn McCool's (3701 Banks Street) because they have a little special going on that will get you jumping even more at the parades. They are giving aways a $20 bar tab to the patron who brings in the prettiest beads! That's right, you can sing to your heart's delight and strut your beautiful beads to get a $20 bar tab. Also, it's near the parade, so this one doesn't require too much walking. Karaoke begins at 8:00 PM.

Sunday, February 7/The Prytania Bar presents, Big Freeda: It's just not a weekend if Big Freeda isn't in there, and lucky for us, Prytania Bar (3445 Prytania Street) is letting us indulge in the Queen of Bounce. Sure, you knees might hurt from parading, walking, and dancing on less than even streets, but you can't say no to Big Freeda, and Quicki Mart, and Sexy Dex and The Fresh. You just can't! Pricing varies for tickets, which you can get tickets here.

Sunday, February 7/Your very own home: We suggest a bit of sleep because you know what's coming next week!
