Thursday, July 20/The Tigermen Den (3113 Royal Street): Head to The Tigermen Den for another film for the True Orleans Festival run by Shotgun Cinema. On Thursday they will be screening Chantal Akerman's film documentary, No Home Movie. Shotgun Cinema will be partnering with Manon Bellet from Français à la carte - New Orleans, an Interactive French Classes on cinema culture and art. She will introduce to the audience to Le cinéma et les mots, a French language lesson with French vocabulary, expressions around cinema and the film in particular. Le Cinéma et les mots will precede the screening. Doors open at 6:30, and tickets are $7 (cash or charge accepted). For more information, check out their event page.
Saturday, July 22/Art Klub (1941 Arts Street): After their open studio of creation on July 18, Art Klub is transitioning their space into a venue for music and entertainment. North Carolina Hip-Hop trailblazer/emcee/Justus League co-founder Cesar Comanche returns to New Orleans with fellow NC emcee Ghost Dog as a part of his ever expanding and continued Building Bridges Tour. They will be heading to Arts Klub on Saturday, and it all begins at 9:30 PM. Tickets are $7, and you can purchase them here.
Saturday, July 22/Dat Dog (5030 Freret Street): Hot dog fans get ready to be excited. Saturday is National Hot Dog day, and Dat Dog is making sure they pay homage to the hot dog every way they can. That includes a hot dog dressing contest, raffles, doggie portraits, face painting, hot dogs (of course) and more. The festivities begin at 3:00 PM and go until 8:00 PM. Tuesday, July 25/One Eyed Jacks (615 Toulouse): Tuesday nights are about to get a whole bunch funnier. Nationally touring New Orleans comedian Chris Trew is proud to launch Chris Trew’s French Quarter Comedy Night, a free weekly show at One Eyed Jacks. That's right, ever Tuesday night at 8:30 PM, you can head into One Eyed Jacks to get your laughs. The series began on July 18 and will run until otherwise notified.
