We've Got Your Weekend: Detox Through Yoga, Film, Games, and Culture

Thursday, February 11/ City of Love: Yoga instructors and various organizations will be getting together on Thursday to lead a free and open to the public yoga class called "City of Love."  The City of Love Worship Team will be rockin it out on stage for a live uplifting musical performance during the practice. It's a free event, but they are asking for an optional donation of dry red beans & rice as an offering for LOVE365, City of Love's philanthropic intiative to feeding the homeless on Tuesday evenings. After a fat Tuesday and an ash Wednesday, why not try a musical yoga Thursday? The event is at 6:15 PM located at 8601 Palmetto St, and you can find out more about the event here.

Friday, February 12/Marigny Opera House: Local filmmakers Bill and Turner Ross (also lovingly known as the Ross Brothers) will be debuting their documentary Western at the Marigny Opera House. The documentary focuses around the border town between Texas and Mexico, and you can watch the trailer here. Shotgun Cinema will be providing the projection, and both Bill and Turner as well as Court 13 producer, Michael Gottwald will be in attendance for a live Q and A after the screening. Tickets are $7, the doors open at 6:30 PM and the show starts at 7:00 PM.

Saturday, February 13/Ashé Power House: With Valentine's Day just around the corner, the Ashé Power House (1731 Baronne Street) thought they'd bring a different kind of fun to the table - The Dating Game. They have not only promised that it will be a delightfully fun game but also a throw-down dance party!On this night, ordinary people have a chance to experience what many of us watched on television.  You can tune in with live eyes and see who gets hooked up. And, if you want to be a contestant: only single folks 30 and over need apply.  Click here to sign up.  The rest, just come out and enjoy. The host for the evening is Papa Smurf, with music by  Dynamite DJ Dave Soul. Sunday, February 14/Recital Hall (Tulane): The Birdfoot Festival and the University of New Orleans’ Department of Music are putting on a free, public concert by the New Orleans­based Polymnia Quartet. This performance, held in the Recital Hall of The Performing Arts Building at The University of New Orleans, will be on February 14th, 2016 at 4:00PM. The Polymnia Quartet will discuss and perform works by Philip Glass and Joseph Haydn during this performance.

Sunday, February 14/ Mary Queen of Vietnam Church: The annual TET celebration runs from Friday, February 12 through Sunday, February 14, and it's a way to take a small trip to what feels like outside the city and immerse yourself into Vietnamese food, art, and culture. There are various booths: information and exhibition, arts and crafts, foods, drinks, and games, community expo, and much more. On Sunday the celebration opens at 10:00 AM and ends at 10:00 PM. It takes place at 5069 Willowbrook Dr, and entrance is free.
