Virtual Gallery: Warpaint at Republic

Los Angeles-based band Warpaint took the stage at Republic last Tuesday for an enchanting set of their spooky psych-rock that thrilled the modest, but fervent crowd.  Drawing heavily from their self-titled album released earlier this year, the band conjured up a hypnotic sound through ghostly harmonies, pounding drums and meticulously crafted guitar and synth lines.

This summer, the band earned a reputation for delivering memorable sets at festivals across the country by attracting rock and dance fans with their unique sound.  The band showed off their polished set at Republic, complete with unexpected jams that segued between songs and a stage presence that got the crowd dancing along with them.  The dark, atmospheric music felt right at home in the confines of Republic and the band was clearly thrilled to be playing New Orleans (even commenting at one point that they wanted to move here).  After this confident, polished set and a very warm welcome, it's safe to assume that Warpaint has NOLA on its radar. Hopefully we'll see them again soon (possibly at BUKU 2015?).
