Virtual gallery: The Rocketboys at the BEATnik

Texas native indie rock band The Rocketboys kicked off their Left/Right tour Wednesday night at the BEATnik, one of New Orleans finest hidden gems for catching live music. Also on the bill was NOLA-based band Mariine — comprised of brother duo Vaughn Thomas Daigle and Ryan Andrieu Daigle — whose music is a blend of avant-garde, pop and experimental beats, a unique genre that the eclectic space accentuated.

Following Mariine’s confident opening performance, The Rocketboys took the floor. The band has been around since 2005 and has had a somewhat prolific career so far, with a total of two albums, four EPs, and two live disc. Recently, hoping to capitalize on the success of the band’s single “Viva Voce,” which was played in the current season’s premiere of Glee, the Rocketboys have launched a tour promoting their new extended play album Left/Right, on which the popular track is located. By the end of the evening, the band and audience were both excited and saddened that the well rounded set had come to an end.  View an extended gallery here.
