Virtual gallery: First Aid Kit at House of Blues

Swedish folk duo First Aid Kit (comprised of sisters Johanna and Klara Söderberg), who have previously opened for Bright Eyes and Lykki Li, headlined their first New Orleans show at the House of Blues this past Thursday night. In addition to the two singers, the pair was accompanied by a drummer and a lap steel/guitar/mandolin player. First Aid Kit is on tour supporting their latest album Stay Gold, songs from which accounted for the bulk of the set. The rest of the set’s material came from earlier album The Lions Roar; the duo’s debut album, The Big Black & Blue and I-tunes Sessions , and a fun cover of Jack White’s “Love Interruption.” Performance highlights included an acoustic rendition of their song “Ghost Town,” a rambunctious and exciting version of “Heaven Knows,” and the set closer, the duo’s anthem of sorts, “Emmylou.” View an extended gallery here.
