VIDEO: “Rosenwald’s Dying Days”

Editor’s Note: Cinema Reset had another successful “Open Screen” event that took place at on April 21st at Indywood. Mediamakers of all shapes and sizes showed up with short video pieces, and a few of them offered to share their work and experiences with NolaVie. Not everyone can make it out to these open-mic style film screenings, but these are emerging artists making local stories — and we think they’re worth checkin’ out. Here’s one:

How would you describe/introduce your video?

A mural I painted inside the old Rosenwald Gym just before it was demolished

What do you do when you’re not making cinema?

Trying to be outside as much as possible, usually with my girl Liza Jane. Always looking for new places to explore or a new canvas to add some color to.

Any future movie-making plans?..

I am working to finish up my first feature length documentary film, Big Charity, about New Orleans’ abandoned Charity Hospital.

Thoughts on the local cinema community/industry (What’s missing? What’s great? What are you excited about?) …

There’s a lot of big budget features being shot in Louisiana that sometimes overshadow all the independent projects happening here. Some people don’t realize that in addition to the blockbusters, there are some amazing, smaller projects being made here every day.
