VIDEO: Ladies arm wrestling in New Orleans

NO LAW (New Orleans Ladies Arm Wrestling) is a not-for-profit, all-women-identified collective that organizes, produces, and participates in tournament-style arm wrestling competitions. Building off of New Orleans' deep love and roots in costumery and performance, NO LAW's competitions are theatrically-minded -- each lady wrestler has bio, theme song, and money-hungry entourage to back them up and collect “bets” from the crowd, all of which is donated to a local organization or project that benefits women and girls.

Recently, Julian Pacheco, a student in the Department of Film and Theatre at the University of New Orleans, documented tournament footage and spoke to NO LAW founder Nina Feldman, as well as a program director from one of the beneficiary programs.

The Film and Theatre Department of UNO and NolaVie present this series of short films produced by the students in Laszlo Fulop's documentary class. Read Renee Peck's column about the program here.
