VIDEO: 'City Park Gondola'
Nola Gondola owner Robert Dula realized his dream of owning a gondola in 2003; by March of 2004 he had created a business operating a gondola service (New Orleans' only gondola service, in fact) in City Park.
For folks looking for a unique way to spend a romantic evening or relaxing afternoon on the water, Nola Gondola tours are a wonderful addition to spring and summer "to do" lists. Nola Gondola's handcrafted vessel, Bella Mae, accommodates up to six passengers at a time during its 50-minute tours, which include cheese and crackers, wine glasses and ice for customers' byob beverages, festive Italian music and, of course, the beautiful scenery of City Park that Nola Gondola employee Liam Pierce says park goers experience anew when on the gondola.
Tickets are $90 per couple and $10 for each additional passenger.
Meagan Arms, a film student in the Department of Film and Theatre at the University of New Orleans, recently created a short documentary about Nola Gondola's service and evolution.
The Film and Theatre Department of UNO and NolaVie present this series of short films produced by the students in Laszlo Fulop's documentary class. Read Renee Peck's column about the program here.
