UNO documentary: Travis Bird and Angela Catalano of Shotgun Cinema

Who: Travis Bird and Angela Catalano, co-founders of Shotgun Cinema, an initiative that is based upon uniqueness and variety, educating and expanding NOLA’s film community by showcasing high quality, foreign independent films — in essence forging a connection between New Orleans filmgoers and world cinema. Once a month, Shotgun Cinema invites local audiences to view and discuss a different foreign film, the selections varying in each genre and language each presentation.

Editor’s Note: NolaVie partners with students of UNO professor László Zsolt Fülöppairing them with artists, non-profits, environmental groups, and cultural entities to facilitate a live curriculum that results in a short documentary. Beal Locke, a film student in the Department of Film and Theatre at the University of New Orleans, recently spoke with Catalano and Shotgun Cinema co-founder Travis Bird in a short documentary about the organization’s role in New Orleans’ cinematic culture.
