UNO documentary: 'New Orleans Jazz and National Heritage Park'

In New Orleans, jazz maintains a central role in each the city's culture, community and history. So it seems only natural that the Crescent City boasts a national park entirely concentrated upon the native genre.

Located in the heart of the French Quarter, the New Orleans Jazz and National Heritage Park is dedicated to interpreting the history and development of jazz, which ultimately emerged as the result of NOLA's unique historical melding of African and European cultures.  The park preserves the extensively social nature jazz has played in New Orleans by offering interactive programming such as walking tours, ranger activities and live performances.

Callahan Wigley,a film student in the Department of Film and Theatre at the University of New Orleans, recently spoke with Ranger Karen Armongast about the park's programs.
