UNO documentary: Dashing Bicycles and Accessories

Who: Marin Tockman, Owner and Mechanic – Dashing Bicycles and Accessories

Film by: UNO student and documentary filmmaker Ethan Ranck

“Dashing Bicycles and Accessories opened in 2013, and our main mission was to target women and families. It is a hub for women and families to feel – as I think they should – more a part of the active transportation network in greater New Orleans. By that, I feel like they should feel comfortable biking, walking, and getting to where they want to go more safely.

I’m a one-woman shop, so Dashing Bicycles and Accessories is just me right now. We do full tune-ups. We do repairs on everything from brakes, chains, cabling, shifters, derailleurs. We basically do it all.

Dashing BikesWe do register all our bikes with the police, and we offer free maintenance for any bikes that are purchased in-store, so we really try to be an all-service shop. We’re very small, so you get that personal service. I think people like that experience of coming into the shop, knowing their mechanic, and knowing that their mechanic is willing and able to work on any problems they might have quickly, efficiently, and cost effectively. My goal is to be affordable and offer the best quality service. I want this to feel like the local bike shop that you want to be at.”

Dashing Bicycles and Accessories is located at 628 Rampart Street.
