UNO documentary: Danny Retz “Sitting Down with a Master”

Who: Danny Retz, he’s a native New Orleanian, but after leaving home, it has taken Danny Retz more than three decades to get back to his roots. In the meantime, he created a career as an editor/assistant editor with every major studio and numerous independent production companies. His credits include RoboCop, Cutthroat Island, Total Recall, The Substitute 3, The Shooting Gallery, and Harold and Kumar II. Now, as artist in residence at the University of New Orleans, he is sharing his talents and expertise with the next generation.

Editor’s Note: NolaVie partners with students of UNO professor László Zsolt Fülöppairing them with artists, non-profits, environmental groups, and cultural entities to facilitate a live curriculum that results in a short documentary. In this short doc,  UNO film student Chris Mullins sat down with the filmmaker for a conversation about movies, moviemaking and Danny Retz.
