Tribute to a departed friend

Diana Pinckley

NolaVie lost a dear friend and colleague on Wednesday when Diana Pinckley passed away. Pinckley, as everyone hailed her, gave unstintingly of herself and her talents to so many people  and causes in New Orleans that it would be impossible to list them here.

A polished and poised public relations specialist, Pinckley responded without hesitation to a plea for assistance when we launched NolaVie in February 2011. She gave us sage advice, wrote press releases, printed handouts, collated press packets, and strategized wisely and wittily, her only reward our heartfelt thanks.

Pinckley was smart, upbeat, enthusiastic and energetic, ever taking life by storm. She lived fully and well, and we were the better for having crossed her path. One of our enduring memories will be how, when asked to represent us at a press conference this summer, she decided to dress the part — NolaVie red attire, cherry folder in hand, trademark smile in place.

We, like so many of our fellow New Orleanians, will miss her. And, like so many of you, we will remember her well.

— Sharon Litwin and Renee Peck, founders of NolaVie
