The Vie Side: Friday Fights, Book Signing, Psychic Fair

FRIDAY / Like your life depended on it: Usually, watching a fight on a Friday in New Orleans means that you’re out a little too late and somebody said something good about the Falcons or bad about the Saints. This Friday, it means you’re hot for teacher. Friday Night Fights are having a block party at the Blind Pelican themed “Hot for Teachers.” If you mold young minds on the daily and have an ID to prove it, you get in free. For those who simply like channeling a young Britney Spears, you get in free dressed as a schoolgirl as well.

SATURDAY / Sign on: Hoda Kotb is known for having more fun on the Today show before 10 AM than most people do in their entire day. Her new book proves that she has a more serious side. Ten Years Later tells the true stories of 6 people facing adversity and overcoming it and where they are a decade later. These inspirational tales are a testament to endurance, resilience, and perseverance, and particularly thought-provoking to those of us who still forget that the 90s were longer than a decade ago. Meet the inspirational writer and funny lady at the Garden District Bookshop at 3 PM.

SATURDAY-SUNDAY / Tea leaves and crystal balls: Typically, you don’t have to wonder passed Jackson Square to have your fortune read, but this weekend, you’re going to want to get out of the Quarter and to the Lower Garden District to the House of Broel for the New Orleans Psychic Fair. Whatever type of foresight you need, they’ve got it, from Debbie who works on police cases to local tarot card readers. Beyond readings, there will also be lectures and workshops. Why not learn to heal yourself at home? Make a skeptic a believer this weekend.
