The festival features panels, parties, workshops, and special programming. It opens Thursday evening with a screening of The Paperboy, a locally shot film appropriate for Hollywood South. FRIDAY-SUNDAY / Getting crabby: New Orleans is known for three things: food, festivals, and music. All three come together for Louisiana Seafood Fest this weekend. Get a sampling of the charbroiled oysters from Drago’s, shrimp remoulade from Galatoire’s, and more, to the sound of some of New Orleans’s most popular brass and funk bands. Seafood on a paper plate and trombone music on the Mississippi with a cold drink in your hand—I’m pretty sure that’s the Nola version of heaven. Friday through Sunday, Woldenberg Riverfront Park.

SATURDAY / Dangerously smooth: Live Music Blog: Nola Pick of the Week: Hard-hitting and hypnotic, the Oxford, MS jamtronica band Zoogma will be launching their dangerously smooth cocktail of electro-funk directly off the eardrums of Tipitina's Uptown patrons this Saturday Oct. 13th. Zoogma is famous for their high-energy and unpredictably dynamic live performances, so fans might want to lace up their dancing shoes extra tight before this weekend's must-see show. Hometown heroes Gravity A will be opening with the full fundamental force of their own distinct jazz-funk blend. Don't fight it; just let it pull you in. 10 PM, Tipitinas, 501 Napoleon Ave.
