Scott Gold takes a bite out of Gambit
NolaVie Food Porn Friday columnist Scott Gold is well on his way be becoming a palate to be recognized in the Crescent City.
Scott has been tapped by Gambit to be its contributing writer for food and drink. Scott will be writing a weekly restaurant review, as well as a couple of other regular food features for the popular weekly newspaper. You can find more of his work here.
Scott graduated from Washington U in St. Louis, and then spent a number of years working in New York as an agent, foreign rights manager and sales specialist. He wrote a book, The Shameless Carnivore: A Manifesto for Meat Lovers, and spent countless hours refining his talents for mixology and culinary experimentation. And also contributing articles to Gourmet, Edible Brooklyn, Overflow magazine, The Faster Times and other publications.
But like so many New Orleans natives, Scott felt the lure of home. He moved here a year or so ago to pursue a career in food writing. His Friday food spotlight for NolaVie focuses on a single delectable dish that conjures memories, culinary musings or food lore. Scott has the enviable (and rare) ability to not only be able to detect that hint of cumin or cilantro in a dish, but also to convey its effect to readers. Sometimes even with a little back history. He takes his own food photos, too.
Scott will continue to write Food Porn Friday for NolaVie, as time permits. Meanwhile, catch him at bestofneworleans.com. We wish him the best and, as always, are happy to see a talented young professional back in the Big Easy. Congratulations.
