NOLA Traditions: Dog Day Afternoon for LA/SPCA

“You talkin’ to me?”

Don’t tell anyone, but a couple of cats managed to sneak into LA/SPCA’s Dog Day Afternoon.

I don’t think any of the dogs noticed, though. It was their day, after all.

Sunday’s event at City Park featured a dog walk-a-thon — called the Gatsby Strut — food and vendors, dog acrobatics courtesy of Gail Mirabella and the Dynamo Disco Dogs, and musical entertainment by Amanda Shaw & The Cute Guys.

The annual festival is a fund-raiser for LA/SPCA and serves to raise awareness of animal welfare in our community. The LA/SPCA provides low-cost pet wellness and spay/neuter services, adoptions, community education, and obedience classes.

And that’s something that all dogs, cats, and their human companions, should support.
