Lots of Progress means Lots of Progress!

pitch nola2

Sure it’s a play on words, but these lots really are just that: vacant land lots scattered across New Orleans. And they are available to any and all entrepreneurs with ideas for their creative use. And they come with the potential for up to $7,500 in financial support.

It’s all part of a search for innovative ideas that are sustainable, scalable and replicable and which can be executed within 18 months of the lease and/or purchase date of the lot. This effort to generate community interest in the activation of vacant lots come is the result of a partnership between Propeller: A Source for Social Innovation and the New Orleans Redevelopment Authority (NORA) and is sponsored by Entergy.

For those who have been thinking about projects that could use an empty lot, action — think outdoor fitness center, a pocket park or urban farm, among many other possible projects — be aware, THIS IS LAST CALL. Individuals or groups that have innovative plans and need a location to see them come to fruition are urged to submit their ideas to PitchNOLA 2014: Lots of Progress NO LATER than Tuesday, July 15 at 4 PM. One caveat: Submissions for residential development are NOT eligible.

Finalists chosen from submitted projects will pitch their ideas in front of a panel of judges and a live audience on August 19th, 2014.
