Local chefs in Bravo's 'Top Chef' prequel premiere tonight
You've probably heard that Bravo's Top Chef filmed their upcoming eleventh season (which wrapped about a month ago) in NOLA. Maybe you even saw the chefs barreling through Whole Foods or sweating out a challenge around town.
Tonight, you can catch the first of six webisodes, entitled Padma's Picks, on Bravotv.com. In this prequel to Top Chef : New Orleans, host Padma Lakshmi will put ten local chefs through weekly culinary duals and eventually choose one local chef to represent their hometown in the upcoming season.According to the webisode trailer, Galatoire's Micahel Sichel and Arnaud's Casey Morvant will face-off in tonight's episode.
Dish envy tend to be an issue for you when you watch food programming? No problem. Why not make an event of the prequel premiere by dining at Galatoire's (209 Bourbon Street) or Arnuad's (813 Bienville Avenue) tonight. Bonus: both restaurants are participating in COOLinary month, so you can take advantage of their three course $35 prix fixe menus, which include options such as cornish game hen with basil honey, roast pecans, stilton cheese, and stone-ground grits (Arnaud's) and flat top gulf fish with roasted eggplant, baby spinach, artichoke hearts, cherry tomatoes, and lemon beurre blanc (Galatoire's).
Can't make it out tonight? No worries, the trailer also reveals a flash of pop up We've Got Soul's Tres Barnard. You can catch up with We've Got Soul this Saturday at the New Orleans Daiquiri Festival, which you can read more about in this week's 'We got your weekend'.
