‘It’s all about the music’ bike ride

Picture this: you’re peddling on a stationary bike at the gym. To your left is a man whose breathing rivals the Natchez’s whistle, and on the right is a woman whose endurance makes you feel like a two-year-old on a plastic tricycle. LMFAO’s ‘I Work Out’ has played at least six times, and the a/c is on the fritz. You’re thinking you might as well give up and rock back and forth in front of your television with a pint of Ben and Jerry’s and bag of Tostitos.

Now that you remember why you haven’t been to the gym in three weeks, we should tell you we’ve got good news for both you and your thighs. Enter NOLA Social Ride.

From 6 PM – 9:30 PM on Tuesday, NOLA Social Ride will host their weekly “It’s all about the music” bike ride. Riders meet at Congo Square (700 N. Rampart St.) and then peddle their way to a series of venues with live music. Along the way, riders will listen to musical selections chosen by the ride leader. If you can’t make it to Congo Square by 6, no worries; late-comers can meet up with the group between 7:30 and 7:45 (the location will be announced on their Facebook page on Tuesday). The ride will conclude at a venue with, of course, live music and no cover. The ride is free and open to the public. You can live track the group’s whereabouts on their Facebook page.
