Gallery: Dr. Mary’s jazz funeral

Yesterday — fifty years after the mysterious murder of Dr. Mary Sherman, who some believed to have had a connection to JFK’s assassination — a “faux funeral” was held in Sherman’s honor, in front of 3101 St Charles Avenue, the doctor’s former apartment and the site of her murder. In classic New Orleans tradition, the commemorative ceremony naturally took the form of a jazz funeral, featuring an ensemble performance led by jazz trumpeter Clive Wilson as the public paid their tributes.
