Event highlight: Artful fashions for summer solstice

Retro bathing suit from the vaults of Western Costumes, the largest movie costume company in the world, having its 100th anniversary Wednesday.

Summer solstice, you say?

But of course that might make you “Hot and Bothered” – or so believes Creative Alliance of New Orleans, which is throwing a party by that name on Wednesday, June 20 …. summer solstice.

Festivities will include an interactive runway show followed by a performance fashion/art event choreographed my Monique Moss. The show will feature looks by  Elizabeth Eckman, Alicia Zenobia, Oliver Manhattan, Jose Luis Rodriguez, Carolina Gallop, Xiomara del Carmen & Alton Osborn, as well as swim and summer costumes from the vaults of the Hollywood-based Western Costume Company.

A pop-up boutique, silent auction, food from area restaurants and music by Masimiyu Murumba rounds out the entertainment.

The fun starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the home of Calvin and Francis Fayard, 5809 St. Charles Ave., and tickets are $75, available at cano-la.org.

A Western Company romper will be featured at Wednesday fashion event.
