Drink: Santa’s Lap at cocktail bar pop-up Sasparilla. The pop-up miracle workers at Dante’s Kitchen (the birthplace of Noodle and Pie and McClure’s) are at it again. Sasparilla, their current brainchild that launched last week, offers craft cocktails (small bites, too) every Tuesday from 8 PM – 3AM. The Santa’s Lap ($6)  — cucumber gin, apple brandy, mastiha liqueur, grapefruit, lime — serendipitously aligned with our confused February weather — combines the warm and spicy notes of winter with light citrus and the freshness of cucumber more appropriate for our recent mid-70s temperatures. Meet: Sweatpant jeans. It sounds like an ill-fated mashup that belongs in fashion exile (or an episode of Full House), but Rag and Bone has managed to successfully execute the hybrid garment. The cropped terry cotton sweatpants, cut to fit like boyfriend jeans, are digitally printed from a design used for the company’s Men’s Spring ’14 Salvage collection, giving the fabric an illusive, denim-like appearance. Available online at Rag and Bone, Barney’s, and Intermix  ($297 – $300).

Rolling out of bed just got easier.

Eat: Southern Art Co.’s Original Hot Sauce. For a city that relishes every iteration of edible heat, SACs original sauce should be a staple addition in every person’s hot sauce arsenal. Southern Art’s product is mild in both its heat and acidity, and its use of aromatics and herbs produce an earthier and more complex finish than is typical of most hot sauces — ultimately making this sauce one of the more balanced varieties on the shelves. Available online and at Whole Foods ($6.99 for 8.5 oz.).

*Warning: Sauce in moderation. If purchased one may start using the product as a universal condiment. I do not claim liability for irresponsible saucing and/or abominable flavor combinations that may result from one’s impending obsession with said product.

Wear: bOObeads. Forget about catching your beads this year. GraNOLA, a local grassroots artists association, is giving beads of Mardis-past a second chance. The organization has “up-cycled” more than 50 pounds of vintage beads (dating back to 1979) by using them to create various designs and patterns for bras and shapewear, producing eco-friendly Carnival attire. Customers have the option of customizing their bOObeads tops and also receive a discount for using an old (or new) bra or top they furnish. Pre-made tops (starting at $30) available on Etsy. E-mail graNOLA for information about custom orders.

Fête:

porta potty

Only in New Orleans is a porta potty formation indication of an imminent party.
