Cry You One Digital (Part Deux): Louis Michot

This is the second installment of a collaboration between NolaVie and Mondo Bizarro featuring videos and stories from Cry You Onethe company’s newest production. Each week during the performance series, which continues weekends through Nov. 24, we're showcasing a short video from CYO’s digital media component, coupled with a guest blog from one of the performers. This partnership aims to highlight and expand upon the stories of the people living on this land, working on this land, and doing their best to save it.

In the second guest blog of the series, Hannah Pepper-Cunningham returns to introduce a short video featuring Louis Michot of the Lost Bayou Ramblers.

In creating CRY YOU ONE, we have not only journeyed into the central wetlands, but also into the traditional music and dance of south Louisiana. We were lucky to be able to sit down one afternoon with Louis Michot, the acclaimed Cajun fiddle player and the lead singer of the Grammy-nominated Lost Bayou Ramblers. Louis writes music that is deeply responsive to the dire situation confronting Louisiana's coastal land and cultures. We talked to Louis about his song, "Bastille," written in response to the BP drilling disaster.
