Book Fest Week, Audio: Trombone Shorty reveals how he got his nickname

Editor’s Note: The New Orleans Book Festival takes place Nov. 11 and 12, with dozens of critically acclaimed local, regional, and national authors, readings, food, music, and an entire section devoted to children’s literature. This week, NolaVie partners with the Book Fest to present a week of education-oriented stories focusing on literature.

Continuing our “Book Fest Week” series, NolaVie headed into the library at Schaumburg Elementary School to read with Erin Martin’s third-grade class. After reading Trombone Shorty, by New Orleanian, yes, Trombone Shorty, discussions focused on what students found exciting and interesting in his book. And, surprise: They were quite taken with … Bo Diddley.
