Blog of the week: Showcase of New Orleans yoga life

It’s not often that you get a grand opening celebration from a website. But that’s exactly what Yoga Lagniappe is planning to do to showcase the launch of its new all-things-yoga-in-New Orleans destination in cyberspace.

The Yoga Lagniappe Launch Party takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at 643 Magazine Street. In addition to details about the new site, there will be prizes including massages, a pop-up shop and refreshments.

Yoga Lagniappe may be new, but it’s not short on news and features about the yoga life in the Big Easy. Snapshots of local studios and interviews with teachers will help you find the right class, while the Align on a Dime section of the site helps you do it on the cheap.

There are also sections on meditation, music, healthy food, an ask-a-yoga-question area, a boutique and a “yoga pretzel” photo gallery of cool and witty poses. There also are links to other sites that talk about styles of yoga, retreat centers and the like.

All in all, it’s a fledgling but comprehensive resource for the yoga life in New Orleans. Who knew we had such transcendental minds in our midst?
