30 under 30: Sushi search

I love sushi. The under-30 crowd loves sushi. The under-100 crowd loves sushi. And in New Orleans, that means you have a lot of good options.

I’ve tested the raw-fishy waters, and between Hana/ Mikimoto /Little Tokyo/ Origami/ Sushi Brothers/ Sake Café/ Rock-n-Sake/ Kyoto, picking a favorite is like choosing a favorite child.

But as bad a sushi mom as this makes me, I do have one: Kyoto on Prytania.

The offerings are delicious and reasonably priced, with regular rolls around $4, and specialty versions ranging anywhere between $6 and $15.

For me, the Sarah Roll is a must-order. At $6.25, it has the perfect combination of crunch, spice, and veggie. (Menu description: spicy shrimp and avocado with crunchy and chili sauce on top. Yum.)

If you’re feeling slightly adventurous, the Sashimi Appetizer does not disappoint. For $13.95, it’s fresh, delicious, and yields a ton of food.

As a bonus, if you sit at the bar you get a Miso soup on the house. Tis amazing.

For $30 or less, I guarantee you and a special friend will be remarkably full (hopefully not too full, though, with the perfect nightcap right next door).
