In search of New Orleans artists (now!) for 2012 Artisan Series

Are you the next big name in visual art?

If so, then the 2012 Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series is looking for you.

Since 2009, Bombay Sapphire and the Rush Philanthropic Art Foundation have celebrated emerging artists with the Artisan Series. Last year, San Francisco and New York ranked top in local artist participation; this year, local hosts Cathedral Creative Studios and L'Entrepot  are determined to put New Orleans in the lead.

All area artists are invited to submit original artwork for consideration. The works of semi-finalists will be featured during Art for Arts' Sake at L’Entrepot’s Julia Street gallery, and local winners will go on to compete at Art Basel Miami for a chance to exhibit at the Rush Gallery in New York.

New Orleans, the local hosts believe, should be a shoo-in: Our city is unique in its rich history and diverse modern landscape, something that definitely shows in the work of the thousands of talented artists that make their homes here.

Submission is free, but the deadline to enter is Friday (Aug. 24). Artists are allowed to submit one piece per day online at http://www.sapphireartisanseries.com/submission/create or via Cathedra's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CathedralNOLA.
